How to Use Our Paint Calculator
Our paint calculator makes it easy to determine how many gallons of paint you need for your room painting project. Simply enter your room dimensions and settings.
Understanding Your Results
- Wall Area - The total square footage of all walls (perimeter × height)
- Ceiling Area - The floor space (length × width)
- Doors/Windows Area - Area subtracted for surfaces you won't paint
- Total Paintable Area - The actual area that needs paint
- Gallons Needed - The number of gallons to purchase (rounded up)
Tips for Accurate Results
- Always buy slightly more paint than calculated (about 10% extra) for touch-ups
- Use 2 coats for best coverage, especially with bold colors
- Higher quality paint often provides better coverage
- Subtract only the areas of walls that doors and windows actually cover
